Workers and Generations

Of late, with the current economic circumstances many more conservative people are claiming that people in younger generations are lazy and simply do not want to work which is why so many positions are open.

Instead, what if it is the companies not hiring enough causing the issues with workers. Many jobs require 3 years of experience in the job to get entry level, so there is the issue of how to get experience without experience. Then, currently the US is dealing with the fact that the Baby Boomer generation is getting old and retiring. That generation is much larger than the following generations meaning the US economy has been used to a much larger number of bodies overall in the workforce to choose from. Perhaps some of the issues come from a physical lack of people. Finally, I think an underappreciated reason for missing workers and lots of job positions is that companies are simply milking their current staff, they have kept their staffing so “lean”, “efficient” and “agile” that they cannot respond when everything falls apart just like our logistics systems during lock down crumbled.
